- A Few of My Favorite Things! -

That’s right, it’s time for another installment of My Favorite Things. It’s been a while since I posted about my faves, so I thought I’d use this delightfully hot Houston Friday to stay indoors, and blog about what I’m lovin’ these days!

- Blogs. I must admit I have a small obsession with reading other people’s blog. There are quite a few I check on a regular basis, most being other photographer’s blogs, because really, it’s like my gossip magazine. The way most people feel about wanting (needing) to read the latest celeb news in US Weekly is how I feel about checking photo (and baking, and non-photo) blogs.

- Schlotzky’s. Yet another of my obsessions favorite things. My cousin Morgan (Hi Morg!!) came to visit from Pennsylvania a few weeks ago, and apparently they don’t have the deliciousness that is Schlotzky’s in PA. I feel bad for her. Especially since I may or may not be eating there again today. And I say ‘again’ because I may or may not have eaten there once this week already.;)

- Big Brother. Yes, I realize how lame it is that I watch this show. I can’t help it. I used to watch this show all the time, but stopped after several seasons of less-than-desirable house guests. Somehow, I’ve gotten myself sucked back into this season and can’t get enough. If you’ve never seen (or heard of) Big Brother, they take 12 people, put them in a house together, and film their every move. They have no TVs, no internet access, no cell phones, no radio, nothing. All they have are a few amenities (like a pool, pool table, exercise equipment, etc) and each other to keep them occupied day in and day out for the duration of the show (which I think is about 3 months). Each week, the house guests vote to evict one person from the house, slowly eliminating all 12 players. At the end, the last remaining player wins $500,000. Of course there’s drama and alliances that form, but I think the most intriguing part is what people will do when all their normalcies (i.e technology) are taken away, and all they have to do is socialize. Inevitably from the group emerges a leader, a drama queen, a person who’s main goal is to stir up trouble, and so many other personalities; it’s good quality entertainment I tell ya! I’m a dork. I know this. But I’m good with it.

- Saving the best for last: My Husband. Yesterday was our sweet Sammy dog’s 1st birthday. How (almost) one year has passed since we brought that tiny little pup home, I have no idea. NO idea. It really has flown by. Anyway, in honor of Sam turning one whole year old, my seriously awesome husband stopped on his way home from work, and picked up a very special treat for him. There is an “all things dog” shop that Jeff often has a meeting by, and because he loves our hounds just as much as I do, he decided to actually stop in this shop he sees so often to bring home some goodies for the dogs to share. So, when he got home from work, we celebrated Sammy’s birthday by watching our 3 dogs demolish a dog friendly birthday treat. It’s things like this that make me fall more in love with my husband everyday. Ahh, the simple things, right?!:)

THE birthday treat:)

For those of you that know dogs, Jeff was assured the chocolate looking substance covering this peanut butter smelling treat was not chocolate, but yogurt. 100% dog friendly. 100% adorable.

The birthday boy: day one, year one. My how he’s grown…

Happy Friday!!

Katie Mixon - OK don’t kill me but….Ive never eaten at Schlotzsky’s eeek! We will have to go there next time I am in town :) I cannot believe how fast your baby has grown! Still just as cute tho ;) Big brother is still lame, sorry.

August 15, 2010 - 1:29 pm

Kasey - I’m so excited that you watch Big Brother too! Now I have someone to call when I want to discuss the show!

August 13, 2010 - 8:11 pm

Lauren - Andrew is reading this over my shoulder and has insisted that I comment because I, too, love blogs (it’s like spying on your neighbors with their permission), used to love Schlotzsky’s (not having one super close made that one fade a bit…) AND celebrated my animal’s birthday this week (the cat turned 2. I bought him a toy and told Andrew that Bauer wanted Mommy and Daddy to celebrate by eating cookies on his behalf)!

- Melissa – The Bride -

Lovely Melissa married her main squeeze, Christian, this past Saturday which means I finally get to blog her bridals!! Melissa was such a gorgeous bride, and truly looked like she had the BEST time at her wedding. Before her big day, we met at Uptown Park and took lots of shots of the beautiful Melissa. Check back soon for shots from the wedding, but for now enjoy my favorites from her session.

August 2, 2010 - 1:50 pm

Kathy Perry - Lovely, lovely bride, Lindz. Can’t wait to see her wedding day too.

- Because I Can –

I’m officially one of those people. You know, one of those people that doesn’t have kids so I talk (and blog!) about my dogs too much. Yep, I’m one of those. And the best part? I so don’t mind being one of those people because, really, it’s who I am. For example:

I met my sweet husband for a quick lunch this afternoon. We chatted, we ate, then he headed back to work and I headed home. Thanks to XM radio, I was flipping though stations on my drive when I got to 90′s on 9 and the Backstreet Boys were playing. To pay homage to my childhood obsession, I let Larger Than Life blare into my speakers and may or may not have sang along. I’m not saying I did, I’m not saying I didn’t. Ok, I totally did. And it didn’t stop there. Oh no, internetland, I proceeded to sing BSB while I let the dogs out, while started a new load of laundry, while I typed some e-mails. That’s when it hit me that on a nerd scale of 1 to 10, I’m definitely a 15.

So today, I celebrate being one of those people, a 15, for no other reason than because I can:)

And because I can, here’s a few shots of my boys…

What you can see in this picture is Jackson’s purty new hair cut. What you can’t see is him shaking like a leaf because it started thundering while we were outside. Poor Jack doesn’t care much for storms!

Sweetest face ever:)

Seriously, he has a problem. Yes, that is 4 tennis balls sitting around my Sammy. And he was playing with all of them.

Happy Thursday!

Tricia - I am one of those people too! :)

July 27, 2010 - 8:45 pm

Marissa Nicole - Fear not, I am one of those people too. My dog has littered my website a time or two. I have taken so many pictures of her that when I bring my camera out, she looks away or gets up and walks out of the room. Who needs a kid when you get attitude like that.

July 24, 2010 - 11:19 am

Diana - OMG! Back Street Boys!!!! I miss them so much! My mom said they did a mini-concery with NKOTB and they were asked if they were going to take this combo to the nation and they didn’t say no….if that happens, we are SO THERE!

The are super cute, as always. I miss the pups!

July 22, 2010 - 2:51 pm

Kathy Perry - So wonderful to see the boys. Do I see a little bit of gray hair under Madman’s nose? Love the pics, Linz.

- Christine and Dave – The Wedding -

One moment there was pure, unadulterated emotion, and the next moment they’d break out in delighted laughter. At any given moment in the evening, you could find both Christine and Dave having the time of their life.  Whether it was sneaking a kiss by the bar, busting a move on the dance floor, or stealing a glance from across the room, these two were having a blast! The love they share is comfortable, uncontainable, and an absolute joy to document. Christine and Dave, surrounded by their friends and family, vowed to continue unconditionally loving one another and I was so pleased to be there to catch every moment.

Before getting to the images, I’d like to give a big shout out to my friend and awesome photographer, Scot, for coming along to help me shoot Christine and Dave’s wedding! You rock, Scot!!

Christine and Dave – I must say, I’m totally bummed that your wedding has come and gone because I had so much fun photographing you two! I loved how much we laughed and talked, oh and the pictures we got weren’t too bed either;)Much love to you both and many blessings in your life together!

This little gem is one of Scot’s. See why I think he rocks?

I love a fun wedding party. I especially love a wedding party that when told to “bring it in close”, they literally bring it in close!!

Dave is a talented singer/guitar player so he decided to sing Christine a song during the reception.

July 16, 2010 - 12:38 pm

ScotWharton - Glad to help….You rocked this wedding too Ms Lindsay!

July 15, 2010 - 9:21 pm

Christine Badillo - Oh my gosh Lindsay, I absolutely love them…I want to look at them over and over and over and over…:) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

- Pride and Joy –

To say my family is small might be a bit of an understatement. If you add up all my living relatives on both sides of my family, you’ll reach a grand total of 18 people. Yes that’s right, I said 18. Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, siblings, nieces and nephews all equal a whopping 18 people. Though I don’t live close to anyone outside my immediate family, it probably isn’t surprising that I’m close to a lot of my family members. Last week, I got to take a vacation and go and spend time with some of my most favorite members of my family! I’ve spent the last 5 days in Tennessee with my brother, his wife, and 3 of the most adorable children that you ever did see…if I do say so myself:DA few interesting facts about my brother and I: there is a 13 year age difference between us, we never lived together growing up, and really, if you want to get all technical about things, he’s my half brother; we have the same dad. So, needless to say, when I get to spend time with my brother and his family, I love every minute of it.

Though I intended to take more pictures during my visit, I got wrapped up in just enjoying my time with my 3 loves and my camera fell by the wayside. I very much wish I got to see not only these 3, but Chris and Stephanie far more often than I do. I love them all so much. I love their company, love chit chatting until all hours of the night, and love how much we laugh when we’re together. I’m already looking forward to the next visit, but until then, here’s a few of the pictures I did snap while I was there.

Carter (on the left) is the oldest of the three at 6 and 1/2. He is so even keeled, so loving, and inherited the Strode red hair. Both my father and my brother have red hair like Carter, as did my grandmother in her younger days. Riley (on the right) is the middle child, is full of energy, yet he loves to snuggle.

Cutest thing I ever did see.

This is my sweet Emily. She’s not only the baby of the family, but the only girl. She is incredibly observant, loves to say dada over and over again, and has a smile that will absolutely melt your heart.

Oh and she’s got gorgeous eyes. While editing, I didn’t touch them in photoshop. They’re just that awesome…

Pride and Joy:)Love these 3 so very much

And one last one of little girl in her cute little dress from Aunt Lindsay;)
