Recently, I did what I’d like to call an ‘overhaul’ on our house. When we moved in, about half of the house was painted and the other half was dull, boring white. In an effort to make our house feel a little more homey, I wanted to get rid of the white. And since this is what could be considered my ‘off season’ for weddings, I decided what better time then now to get the house painted. After all, we’ve only lived here 2 months shy of 2 years!! So, after about 7 trips to Home Depot, 6 cans of paint, and several days of work, our house looks lovely.
However, my real reason for this post is to reminisce! In June of 2008, my husband and I went to Tahiti for our honeymoon. It was an unbelievable, once in a lifetime trip. I took my camera (of course!) so when we got home, I had tons of great pictures that needed a place to hang in out home. Since palm trees and grass huts don’t really fit the rest of the decor in our house, I chose one of our spare bedrooms to be hang these pictures. After seeing this, my awesome mother-in-law (who is an extremely talented quilter) asked if I wanted a quilt to go with the pictures. From this point on, the room has been referred to as ‘The Tahiti Room’.
Since I did the house overhaul recently, I spent a lot of time in that spare bedroom gazing at the pictures. The weather here in Houston has been cold, wet, and cold lately (did I mention it was cold?) so it was nice to think about sunny skies, beaches, and warmth! Since I was enjoying pretending the weather was better and spring was here, I thought I’d share some of my pictures from Tahiti so you can pretend too!
We stayed on the island of Moorea in one of these huts (except our was on the beach, not over the water!)
That’s the main island of Tahiti in the background…
We stayed in one of these. It was fabulous!
This is my absolute favorite image from the trip and is the focal point in our spare bedroom.
Happy Monday!
